We stated learning about the signs of Spring and came across a cute idea from Busy Bee Kid Crafts. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.busybeekidscrafts.com/Baby-Blue-Birds.html. We chose to ours out of popsicle sticks instead.
Using white or craft glue, being by gluing the edges of the popsicle sticks together until you have a platform that is square. Add an extra layer of glue to the top and spread it around to make sure it gets into the all the cracks. We did this project on wax paper.
We started layering our popsicle sticks around the edges, alternating the direction of the sticks each time until we formed a little box. From there we began to glue popsicle sticks on the top randomly to form the shape of a birds nest made of twigs and sticks.
This is what it looked like when my daughter finished.
Cover the inside with glue again and add some Easter basket grass of your chose. We chose the white we had left over from another project.
Glue on small feather (we cut ours from larger ones) to form two wings and a tail. Then glue on googly eyes.
When we were done with the birds we added them to the nest that we made. My daughter then decided she needed a mommy bird so we took a small craft bird I had and added to the edge of the basket.
